LingWorld.com is a growing online marketplace where foreign language
students find foreign language teachers for learning or practicing the
language of their choice.
The lessons will be given online through the Internet and a webcam, so
you will need broadband for a better quality communication. You can
also use cybercafés which all have broadband connections,
and most of the time have computers equipped with webcams and headsets.
LingWorld.com is free to join, and there is no monthly fee.
We encourage you to accept to give a free trial class (we recommend
20min) when a new students approaches you. It is the best way to
convince him/her to take their foreign language course with you, and
once they decide to take you as a teacher, there is a good chance they
will be your long term student; therefore the 20 min trial was a good
investment.
Once your student is happy with the free trial class, he/she will book
the following class using LingWorld.com booking system. They will pay
you through LingWorld payment system for the following classes.
After every class, both teachers and students give a grade to each
other, and write a comment. Good feedback will enable the good teachers
to acquire a good reputation, have more students, and increase their
earnings.
The more hours you teach on Lingworld, the more new students you will
attract, as potential students will be more confident in taking their
language course with a tutor with a larger track record.

LingWorld.com charges a very small admin fee of 10% on earnings. It is
very little compared to the exposure it provides you and the service
rendered. It is actually very close to you would be charged by banks or
Paypal if you handled your payment by yourself, and with LingWorld you
do not have to worry about students not paying.
To start with, you can observe what other teachers with equivalent
qualification and experience charge. Nevertheless, after some time on
LingWorld.com, acquiring good ratings and a large number of teaching
hours will enable you to increase your fees, as more students will be
confident to learn a foreign language with you.
Yes. Some students just need to practice a foreign language they
already know, and it will be useful for them to just have a weekly
conversation in that language. Of course you would probably have to
charge less than for a master class. You can specify different hourly
rates for the different types of teaching you provide.
It is up to you and the student. You may have your own teaching
material if you are an experienced teacher. Sometimes students like a
particular syllabus and would like you to follow it. Also there are a
lot of free resources and exercises on the net, which you can use as
part of your language teaching method.
You need a broadband Internet connection and Skype (alternatively MSN
messenger or Yahoo messenger) installed on your computer.
Your earnings are on your LingWorld.com account; you can see your
balance on the top right corner of your screen and the details of your
transactions in your account detail screen.
All your earnings are credited to your LingWorld account, in USD. At
any time you can request us to send your funds back to your bank
account, Paypal account, or credit card account by choosing
“Withdraw Earning” on your LingWorld.com account
menu. We will then contact you to organize the transfer.
If you request us to transfer your earnings to your Paypal account, it
is free.
Otherwise, for telegraphic transfer, check, bank draft, Western Union
transfer, the flat fee for transferring your earnings is 10USD, which
is roughly what is being charged to us for the transfer.
Students and teachers need to use the same software to be able to
communicate. Most of your students will probably already be using
Skype, and you need to be compatible with them.
